Scott has been performing his original music since he was thirteen years old. College brought him from southwest Ohio to New York City to study composition and performance at NYU. It wasn’t long after that he fell in with the Fast Folk crowd that birthed the careers of many influential songwriters. Eventually becoming disillusioned by the music business, he retired after having moderate success as a solo performer and part of various groups over the years. In 2011, after being asked to perform at the memorial service for Fast Folk founder Jack Hardy, Scott was encouraged by his musician friends to come out of retirement. He spent the following decade touring the northeast as the frontman for Other Heroes — winning songwriting awards, having official showcases for Folk Music organizations, and playing at large festivals like the Philadelphia Folk Festival. As the band takes a hiatus, Scott has started working on his first solo recording in more than thirty years. It’s a little of a departure from the band, and some of his most personal songs.
